When the Bauhaus moved its teaching activities to Berlin in 1932, teachers and students finally encountered a large city with social and economic conditions that could have been a suitable basis for their innovative endeavours. The teacher Wassily Kandinsky saw the green location of their provisionally prepared school quarters on the Teltow Canal as a "pretty area". We will show you how the ideas of New Building became established early on in this solid residential area and how they have remained impressively linked to Berlin's architectural history to this day, as we leisurely cycle by on a series of astonishing stations along the residential row, office, church, clinic, square, manor house, stadium, factory and detached house.
