Further information

Embark on an unforgettable journey along the panoramic road Chia-Teulada - once traveled by the ancient Romans and Carthaginians - and discover the fascinating territories of Teulada, Santadi, and Villaperuccio. After just an hour's drive, you'll arrive at a prehistoric necropolis that extends for about 2 kilometers.

This site comprises two areas: the first includes ancient tombs called "Domus de Janas" (fairy houses), while the second is called "Su Congianu." You'll be amazed to find over 40 tombs of various shapes and sizes, including two domus that show religious symbols dating back to the Neolithic era. One of the tombs features the bull-god symbol carved on the entrance wall, other symbols, including the eyes and breasts of the Mother Goddess, and a false door representing the passage to the next world.

The other tomb has bas-reliefs depicting horns in various shapes, referring to the cult of the bull god, carved into the ceiling and on the step leading to the entrance to the Domus. The ceramics discovered during the excavations testify to the necropolis's prolonged use in the Neolithic final era and in the more recent Eneolithic era up to the early Bronze Age. However, please note the presence of a long and steep outdoor natural staircase to reach the site - making it recommended for sporty and active people.

So, if you're up for an adventure and eager to learn more about the history and culture of this beautiful region, don't hesitate to visit this ancient necropolis. Witness this incredible piece of history for yourself and leave feeling enriched and grateful for the opportunity to explore such a magnificent site.
